Savory dishes and live cooking demonstrations — Fostorians will have another opportunity to learn cooking tips from Taste of Home instructor Cheryl Cohen.

Due to the popularity of last year’s event, the Review Times is sponsoring another Taste of Home Cooking School in April, with tickets now on sale.

“I’m happy to have Cheryl back again this year because she does such a great show,” said Mary Perkins, Review Times Publisher. “Cheryl’s demonstrations are both fun and informative.”

The cooking school is 7 p.m. April 29, at Fostoria High School’s Performing Arts Center.

Last year, 600 people from the tri-county area attended the event, and the newspaper has received numerous requests to bring the event back, Perkins said.

“People just really enjoyed it,” she said.

Attendees will receive gift bags with a Taste of Home recipe-style magazine and items from local and national sponsors.

Attendees will also be registered for prizes, including the grand prize of a stainless steel Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator, valued at $899, from Bindel’s Appliance in Findlay. In addition, a Bernina Activa 210 sewing machine, valued at $999 from Sew Nice of Upper Sandusky, will be given out as a door prize.

Cohen is a graduate of Ohio University where she earned a degree in Home Economics Education. She travels throughout Ohio, West Virginia, Virgina and Maryland conducting cooking schools for Taste of Home.

The Fostoria school will include step-by-step cooking instructions as she demonstrates the recipes live on stage. Cohen will also give entertaining tips during the evening.

Kelly Greene of WFIN AM will emcee the show. Greene hosts a cooking and recipe show weekdays from 9-11 a.m.

Tickets are on sale for $10. For a special offer, two tickets and a Taste of Home Cookbook may be purchased for $35. The cookbook will be on sale separately for $18.

This year’s cookbook features diet recipes, with healthy living tips. Recipes are listed by number of calories per serving and are included in the book from lowest to highest amount of calories.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with local business exhibitors in the hallway.

Additional local sponsors for the cooking school include Rock Run Bulk Food of Tiffin, the Courier and Sew Nice.

Tickets can be purchased at the Review Times, Bookshelf II & More, Rock Run Bulk Food of Tiffin, the Courier and Sew Nice, Upper Sandusky.
