Candidate forum to be caught on tape
By LINDA WOODLAND

Managing Editor

Can’t make it to Tuesday’s candidate night sponsored by the Review Times and the Fostoria Woman’s Club? No problem.

Jerry Sisser, TV coordinator at Fostoria Community Schools, will tape the political forum to air on a local television channel later this week.

“I won’t have any exact times or dates until afterwards,” he said, noting the length of Tuesday’s program will play heavily into the turn-around time to get the program up and running for Fostoria viewers.

Sisser recorded the complete 2007 candidate forums hosted by the Review Times and Fostoria Area Women Promoting Women. Those forums were repeatedly broadcast on channel 10 prior to the 2007 November election.

Tuesday’s forum begins at 7 p.m. at the Fostoria Woman’s Club, 135 E. Fremont St., and is expected to wrap up by 9 p.m.

Gene Kinn will moderate the public forum featuring candidates for Fostoria City Council president, council at large and council wards 1, 3, 4. Each will give a two-minute presentation on their respective platforms followed by a question-and-answer period that allows time for rebuttal. Charter representatives (pro and con) and Fostoria Community School levy representatives (pro and con) will follow the candidates.

The Review Times invites readers to submit questions for the forum in person at the Review Times office or by e-mailing them to Send an e-mail to Review Times News by noon Tuesday.

Questions will also be accepted at the beginning of the event from those in attendance.

Because of time constraints, not all questions may be used in the forum.

While the forum is scheduled to last only two hours, Sisser’s work really begins after the microphones are turned off.

The Fostoria High School teacher said there is quite a bit of time commitment involved on his part to record and prepare the taping for broadcast.

But Sisser, who has been at FHS 30 years, takes it all in stride.

“We like to do whatever we can for the community whenever we can,” he said.
