Burrow tappped as community hero
Hardin County Fair - Kenton, Ohio
Pam Burrow has been selected as the adult volunteer of the month for the month of November. Burrow was nominated by Mayor John Davoli.

"I know firsthand how dedicated and hardworking Pam is at everything she gets involved with. She gives a tremendous amount of her own time to all the positions (she serves)," wrote Davoli.

Burrow has been employed by Fostoria Community Schools for 27 years. She is an After School Ohio Graduation Test tutor, a PROJECT Success instructor, advisor for the sophomore class, computer and technology assistant, Positive Behavior Support member at Fostoria High School and volunteers with the Redmen Club and Academic Boosters.

""She is also a very dedicated mother and teacher. The Redmen Club raises a lot of money for our local teams, thanks in a great part to Pam setting up concession stands, buying all the food, scheduling the workers -- she does it all," wrote Davoli.

She is married to Walter Burrow. They have two children, Aaron Burrow, a freshman at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), and Houston Burrow, a sophomore at Fostoria High School. As her children participated in teams, clubs, YMCA and other organizations, she and her husband have volunteered whenever there was a need.

He pointed to Burrow as a great example for other Fostorians to step up and volunteer.

"Everyone says they are too busy. Pam is a full-time teacher and mother and look at all the things she helps with. Pam is where they got the expression 'If you want something done, give it to the busy person,'" Davoli stated.

Burrow said volunteering gives her the opportunity to "know and work with a large number of students and adults."

"(I enjoy) being a part of the community and the sense of giving," said Burrow.

She also enjoys traveling, reading and gardening. She and her husband were recognized as the Geary Family YMCA volunteers of the year in 2005.
