Sentencing of a former Fostoria Community Schools teacher and coach who pleaded guilty to 10 felonies is rescheduled for Jan. 22.
Todd Helms pleaded guilty last month in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court to charges of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, tampering with records, filing a false tax return, theft in office and six counts of grand theft for stealing nearly $300,000 from the Clyde-Green Springs school district.
He was originally scheduled to be sentenced today and faces up to 28 years in prison.
Auditor Mary Taylor said Helms stole about $162,000 from six different school booster clubs, created phony companies to receive $110,000 in fraudulent payments and made $24,000 in unauthorized purchases.
Helms will be sentenced by Common Pleas Court Judge Barbara J. Ansted.
